The story

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says a ground search team found a clue at about 6:02 p.m. on October 9 and relayed its location to a drone operator. Around 6:10 p.m., the operator located the missing person. Ground crews then reached the person and assisted them to safety.

The VES perspective

During an October 9 search in Douglas County, a ground-team clue helped a drone operator locate a missing person eight minutes later. Nightingale Security’s Blackbird can launch autonomously in under 20 seconds, providing live aerial video to support a coordinated response.

The sources do not identify the drone brand or establish autonomous operation in this search. Nightingale is VES’s related response-planning perspective, with no involvement claimed. The under-20-second figure describes autonomous launch, not arrival or time to locate a person.
